eBay Scam

A man from Pennsylvania in the US lost $9,000 in a “sophisticated” scam on the eBay forum state police confirmed today.

Police said that vehicles are being advertised on popular sites that link to fake eBay pages used by the scammers. These pages claim that eBay will hold onto the money until the buyer gets the vehicle and they declare themselves satisfied with it, which is actually a real program offered through eBay.

Police said, however, this is completely fake. The scammer is giving bank account details for a wire transfer and then takes the money without delivering a car. The scammer then deletes the account stopping all communication.
